Who needs a bread machine when you can make homemade bread in slow cooker, huh?
Thank you so much for the recipe!
Of course, let me know how you like it.
I’m so excited to try this recipe this weekend.
This sounds so easy…I’m so excited to try it! Pinning!
can you use regular milk instead of the powdered milk/water combo?? thanks
I have never tried it with regular milk, but I believe the powdered milk is used for some sort of consitenecy reason. Please let us know if you try it with regular milk.
What size crockpot? I have 8 kids, so we have a BIG crockpot, but then I have a square, normal-family-sized crockpot, too. That might be better?
Hi Kim,
It probably doesn’t matter what size, but I used a 6 quart.
Really cool idea. I had no idea you could make bread in the slow cooker. What is the texture like? Is it like normal bread, or is more dense like a breakfast bread (banana bread for example)?
It’s just like any typical homemade wheat bread. Sorry if that doesn’t help much. It’s wonderful!
I have made and its great. It makes a large loaf, the size of my slow cooker.it’s a little bit more dense than your store bought bread but has a great flavor and texture. My sides did burn at the bottom but it did not stop us from enjoying it. I recommend this bread.
I wonder why your buttom burned?? Did you spray it?
I did spray it and it was just at the ends of the oval that it burned. Strange but didn’t stop me from eating that bread.
Wow, what a neat idea! I had no clue you could do that! Thanks for sharing!
My bread tends to burn on the bottom in one of my slow cookers and not in the others. Don’t know why that happens. Stopping by from Good Tastes Tuesday! Thanks for coming by and linking up this week. http://www.sherrylwilson.com/good-tastes-tuesday/
Love baking bread in the crockpot. Visiting from Good Tastes Tuesday link-up!
Hi,
I have a 6.5 qt crockpot. Does this loaf turn out to be the size of the sandwich loaf bread?
Thanks!
The loaf of bread covers the entire bottom of my 7 Quart slow cooker. You might have to adjust your cooking time.
Ok, great! I would like to start making homemade sandwich bread. I will give it a try.
Thanks!
